Abitbi-Consolidated Inc.- see how world class paper is made on a machine larger than a football field. Tours meet at the Trading Center on Mowat Avenue from June-all sites are located at Pitchers Point Park.August, Monday-Friday Closed holidays. Reservations call (807)274-8878. (Ages 12 to adult)
Fort Frances Historical Sites- all sites are located at Pitchers Point Park. Sites open daily, mid June to Labour Day, 10 am to 5 pm
Look-Out Tower- a 100 foot high platform with a spectacular view of the surrounding area. Fort St. Pierre- replica of the original fort built in 1731, features interpretive exhibits about fur trade.
The Hallett- the largest logging boat on Rainy Lake, built for the Ontario Minnesota Pulp & Paper Company in 1940
Noden Causeway- A series of island-hopping bridges just 7km east of Fort Frances on Highway 11. The views are breathtaking
Fort Frances Museum and Cultural Center- A quaint and unique museum offering changing displays of Indian artifacts, relics of the fur trade, logging and farm implements. Located downtown Fort Frances at 259 Scott Street. Open all year Monday-Saturday. Open Sundays from mid June to Labour Day. Closed holidays in winter.
Manitou Mounds Historical Center- The mounds are a part of one of the most significant centers of early habitation and ceremonial burial in North America. This state of the art historical center is built into the riverbank and is barely visible from the outside. It features seven galleries of displays and exhibits, drawing from different points of the last 10,000 years of aboriginal history. There is also a 3km walk along Rainy River past the mound sites, as well as a teepee camp and two village reconstructions. The center is located west of Fort Frances on Highway 11/71, between Barwick and Stratton. For more information call (807) 482-2437
Kitchen Creek Golf Club- rated one of the best 18 hole golf courses in Northwestern Ontario. It is located just 11km west of Fort Frances on Highway 11/71. Call 807 274-GOLF for more information
Winter Carnival- An annual carnival consisting of events for the whole family to enjoy. Activities include a talent night, snowmobile poker derby, outdoor curling and much more. Call 1-800-820-FORT for further details
Nestor Falls
Nestor Falls, 100 kilometers north of Fort frances, sits on a span of land separating Lake of the Woods on the west from Kakabikitchewan and Crow Lake on the east. See the falls or set out on the well marked hiking trails, with shelters to guard against sudden storms
Emo
Emo, situated on the banks of the beautiful Rainy River, is a vigorous resort community with a developed waterfront. The waterfront features park and boat launch facilities, as well as excellent walking and biking trails. You can also enjoy a day at the beach. During the evening, the Emo Speedway is home to exciting stock car races Competing cars from central Canada and the US race on a quarter mile banked clay track. Elmer Norlund and Ed Sletmoen finished building the Norlund Chapel, one of the smallest churches in the world, in 1973. The chapel is open as a house of prayer for all, but measuring 8x10 feet, holds just 8 people. Visit the Manitou Mounds Historical Center at the national park at nearby Rainy River First Nation. Sioux Narrows
Sioux Narrows is located on the eastern shore of Lake of the Woods and is home to several notable lodges and gift shops. In the mid-18th century, an Ojibwa-Cree alliance is said to have defeated an invading war-party of Sioux at a narrows here on the lake. The village is named in recognition of that event. At this same narrows, the highway crosses the village's most distinctive feature: a wooden bridge that spans the narrows between Whitefish and Regina bays. At 210 feet, it is the longest single-span wooden bridge in North America.
Rainy River
The Rainy River area is home to 130 species of birds, along with a host of moose, deer and bear. Hannam Park, located on the river, is a perfect family get-away with its sandy beach, volleyball court, playground and wading pool.
International Falls Minnesota
Voyageurs National Park Rainy Lake Visitor Center, International Falls, Mn (218)286-5258 Discover the past by visiting Rainy Lake, Kabetogama lake or Ash River Visitor Centers. Here you can watch films view exhibits or plan a tour boat trip to a historical site.
Sportsmen's Service Wildlife Museum Hwy 53 & 5th St. IF (218)283-2411 View the finest private wildlife collection in Minnesota. Visitors will enjoy exhibits including over 100 birds and 50 animals. The collection is housed a t Sportsmen's Service. Nominal admittance fee.
Rainy Lake Bike Trail Northern Minnesota's most scenic bike trail begins in International Falls and ends 11 miles later at Rainy Lake Visitors access to Voyageurs National Park

Shopping Numerous specialty shops in Fort Frances, located mainly on Scott Street. In International Falls, many shops also to explore on a rainy day. Border Bob's is a must see, with many interesting things and collector art prints, clothing , souvenirs, etc. Ronnings, also the International Mall hwy 11-71 West.
Dining 10 miles east of International Falls is the Thunderbird Lodge excellent food and atmosphere, magnificent view of the Rainy Lake while you dine. for reservations call (218) 286-3151 open 7 days a week serving breakfast lunch and dinner.
